ART OF ANCIENT GREECE

During the middle of the fifth century B.C. the white ground technique was commonly used for lekythoi, oil flasks placed on graves, and for fine vases of other shapes. For classical painters who wanted to achieve a more complex effect with the limited possibilities of red figure, the white background gave new prominence to the glaze lines. This pyxis shows a big accomplishment for an artist back then and how creative they could be. I chose this piece of art because of the structure and detail. It stood out from the others and the color choice fits it very well. Also i feel as though its a very different piece of art, compared to art today.

Also this vase was used for funerals ,and to pour libations during religious rituals.I think that the artist back then were more passionate about the art work, then some artist today.  I love the detail and sharpness in the painting also the vase, an for someone to be able to create such a masterpiece by hand is amazing.

I chose this piece of art because this one is unique and stuck out from the others. This piece of art is a vase that is filled with liquid and used for ceremonies. It was used for centerpieces for different gathering .
I like this piece because it is masculine, and something i could see having in home . Also the color selection is great for this piece. There are also a lot of other things that i like about it , like the fact that its a animal and i like animals an nature..
